Sounds like a plug to me - we have trend here and are dying to throw it. I know personally of one virus that Trend found, had a fix out in less than two hrs, and then TWO WEEKS later Symantec/Norton deployed their fix. Trend has historically been WAY ahead in av signature updates too. COMPUTERS WILL NOT SUFFER FROM NORTON LAG either! All-in-one made my life EASY! You can use it to YES block any specified program from runing on the client computer too (read GAMES), etc. You can whitelist and blacklist AND URL category filtering. It is MARVELOUS! You have options on client-level scanning or for server-scanning. I use it for BOTH my antivirus solution AND for ALL my web (URL) filtering. I use TrendMicro Worry-Free Business Security Hosted Services. I had OpenDNS, but it complicated my life. OpenDNS gives me another thing I have to keep up with. Policies would not be draconian if peope did not abuse them. Security will then pack-up users belongings into a box and will provide them to the Former Employer outside. Security shows up and tells the user to stop what he/she is doing, getup and leave. When I worked for large companies, I watched users literally escorted out with security for abusing company policy. Me: "This means that you can use your own equipment,your own resources and on on your personal time like at home, at lunch or outside the office" Me: "Yes, as long as you are not using the company owned equipment, resources and not doing it on company time" Me: You know you are able to browse any websites at all ? If the user still doesn't like the response (in fact they never like it), well then my response as follows: If you don't agree with the company policy, then contact your boss, my boss and HR.
Show me a reason why this site will be used for business related needs and I will unblock it. My response to the users about our policy is always: Well, you have to do it, otherwise users will Use and Abuse your network, and you are the one left to fix the issues behind. In order to have users browse the web and still push the Content Filerting without having users login aside of their login to the domain, Sonicwall provides SSO (Single Sign-on Agent), small utility that can be installed on up to 8 servers, it then verifies what user logged in to what machine then goes back to AD and verifies which Group user belongs to and then adequately either allows access to the site or declines. I then have to go and whitelist the website on the Sonicwall Firewall security settings, then I re-rate the website with Sonicwall and once Sonicwall corrects the website rating, I then remove the website from the Whitelist. Sonicwall rates all of the websites based on their CFS.
In the future they may expand above the 25 SSL VPN concurrent connections….Also, we have approximately 100 users… Unfortunately our appliance only supports up to 25 SSL VPN tunnels, however when we get passed the 25 we can also use other VPN options.

I purchased Sonicwall NSA 2400 with Premier content filtering package as well as Viewpoint license and 25 SSL VPN licenses. Occasional non-work internet use should be allowed but having breaks and lunches to be used for non-work internet surfing is generally inviting trouble. There must not be any misunderstanding that your workplace and workstations are to be used for any other purpose but work. If the 1st incident isn't a mistake, you move directly to the 2nd incident. The policy is that inappropriate behavior comes with rewards: 1st incident = additional training and friendly verbal warning, 2nd incident = additional training and written counseling, 3rd incident = permanant vacation from your position. Yet, it is my firm belief and experience that you won't see inappropriate material unless you go looking for it.ĭo training on your HR policy.

Just like my home policy, everyone gets a free pass. In order for web filtering to be useful at all, you will need a draconian HR policy. However, once you past the 75th seat, its time to look at ISA if you are a MS shop.
If you are small, I'd have to go with OpenDNS.
